What size refrigerated container do I need?
First, let’s review everything to know about a refrigerated container provided by Portable Refrigerated Storage.
Often called a “reefer” , this unit is an insulated shipping container equipped with an all electric cooling system. The refrigerated containers in our rental fleet come standard with dependable Carrier™ refrigeration machines. A refrigerated shipping container can maintain temperatures below 0°F up to 75°F. With the ability to set a specific temperature, you can maintain the condition of various products with precision and consistency. These units are available in two sizes: 20’ refrigerated containersand 40’ refrigerated containers. Depending on the desired use and location of the container, each has advantages
20’ Refrigerated Containers
The 20 foot refrigerated shipping container has become the standard for portable job sites and commercial storage. They can accommodate up to 8 standard pallets (single stacked, side byside). Many small businesses choose 20′ refrigerated containers because they take up significantly less space than 40′ refrigerated containers. This cold storage unit can fit in a single parking space and can be transported/delivered with a much smaller vehicle. The size and location allow these refrigerated containers to be used for numerous applications.
40’ Refrigerated Containers
40 foot refrigerated shipping containers provide nearly three times as much storage space. They can hold up to 18 standard pallets (single stacked, side by side). These units are ideal for commercial, industrial and large scale cold storage applications. Due to the size however, this refrigerated shipping container requires approximately three times as much space to deliver than smaller units. Also, some cities and counties may have restrictions regarding the placement of the unit. To make sure you comply with any regulations, you may want to contactthe local zoning office.
Both of these durable units are specifically designed for outdoor use. However, they can also be placed inside of your building or warehouse as well. They are equipped with lockable double doors on one end for strong security and easy access.
Measure the Delivery Location
Before making a final decision, take a good look at the location and decide which container fits the space properly. Also, remember that twice the length of the container plus 10 feet in a straight line is needed for a successful delivery by a roll off truck.
